Samsung electronics has unveiled a high performing ultrabook, dubbed Samsung Notebook Series 5 Ultra in South Korea. The new notebook, which is meant for high performance and ultra portability, takes the concept of ultrabook into a superior level. The notebook is made of high quality aluminum body and solid design. The Samsung Notebook Series 5 Ultra comes up in two screen sizes; a 13.3-inch and a 14-inch. Both devices feature anti-reflective displays and Diskeeper’s 8GB ExpressCache system to boost up the performance for media and gaming contents.
Samsung has also employed its Fast Start technology in the Series 5 Ultra notebooks. It means the machines will boot up and wake up from sleep or hibernation modes in a matter of seconds. To wake up from sleep mode, the notebooks take only two seconds and from hibernation mode only seven seconds. Thanks to its better density and lightness, the Samsung Series 5 Ultra is highly portable, indeed.
The 14-inch version of the Series 5 Ultra is equipped with Intel Sandy Bridge processor, a Hybrid Graphics HD7550M chip from AMD, 8GB of RAM, 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD with 8GB ExpressCache support. Furthermore, the notebook features an ODD (optical drive), HDMI port, RJ-45, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port and VGA connector. The 14-inch Series 5 Ultra notebook weighs at just 1.8kg and has a density of 20.9mm.
Meanwhile, the 13-inch version of the Samsung’s new line of notebook comes with the same AMD chipset, Intel processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage. But, it features a 500GB hard drive with ExpressCache support for high gaming and media experience. The notebook, which is 14.9mm thicker and 1.4kg weightier, sports an HDMI port, USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 ports, a card reader and much more. The 13-inch is largely different from its 14-inch version in weight and density.
The Samsung Series 5 Ultra notebooks will be known for their compact design. The aluminum body with a solid design will help people handle the notebooks roughly. Moreover, the notebooks are highly portable that you can carry them around with no effort in your backpacks. Thanks to the high performance processors, network connectivity options and many other special features, the new line of ultrabook notebooks from Samsung are noteworthy.
Both versions of Series Ultra notebooks run on Windows 7 OS. The notebooks are meant for the Korean market and they will appear in stores late December 2011. The 13-inch notebook will have a price 1 starting from 290,000 – 1,490,000 Won ($1123 to $1297) and the 14-incher comes for a price from 1,340,000 – 1,540,000 Won ($1166 to $1340).
